google: snopes is ice water bad for dogs. ice water isn't bad for dogs c:

Don’t think I’m being mean, I’m not trying to.

A: Snopes is about as accurate as wikipedia. I do not recommend using the site if you’re looking for 100% accuracy.

B: Some vets tell you it is okay to give your dog ice. And it is, in moderation. HOWEVER ice can be dangerous to dogs, as it can be with people if given to them after lots of activity or when it is extremely hot. Ice can agitate their stomachs and cause them to flip (as any kind of food can do to dogs after they’ve been doing a lot of activity, because it is cold and cold can agitate your stomach particular when you’re overheating, it can agitate it more than regular foods, so ice water and ice cubes are not recommended until after the dog has had a bit of time to cool down.) (If that’s confusing think of it this way, you never put ice water on a burn because when something is really hot than something cold is extremely so.) It can also crack or harm their teeth. (It can to human teeth too, lots of people are sensitive to cold foods.)

Dogs can choke on ice cubes if you don’t break them up properly. Dogs who eat quickly should not be fed large ice cubes (such as the ones from ice cube trays like shown for the one image of dogs eating treats)

I said not to give them ice because the post seemed to think it is fine to do it all the time.

It is only alright in moderation, and the ice lick idea is a very poor one in particular. Mostly because of what ice can do to teeth. (Also a stupid dog might start licking all ice even in the winter, and I don’t see that ending well.)

There were several other things in that post I disagreed with though. (Like the ball in the food bowl doesn’t often work, depending on the dog. When my pointer was little he just kicked it out or it was never large enough, the one in the image is NOT large enough.) Most dogs wearing the ‘escape guard’ will spend more time getting it off than escaping, if your fence isn’t gonna keep them in because they’re too small, put them on a tie out or actually watch them like a responsible owner. It looked stupider than a dog sweater anyway.

So maybe I just found the entire post generally not so bright ideas.

But my point stands, do not give dog’s ice, it IS dangerous for dogs. And if if the chances are low that they’ll be harmed by it, why would you risk it? Even if it is only dangerous to give them at some times compared to others, most people don’t take that into consideration so it is generally best to avoid it if possible. I mean if an ice cube falls out of your freezer and your dog nabs it don’t freak out like they’re gonna die, but don’t give them lots of ice , especially when they’ve been playing a lot.

  • me: watching tv show
  • me: looks down at phone for 0.002 seconds
  • me: misses entire plot line of episode, introduction of 2 new characters, 1 main character dies, they are in a different country, at some point someone reproduced and offspring are spoiled and someone got a pet cat

Saving Face (2012), acid attacks on women in Pakistan

Meanwhile, in America, feminists are complaining about how dress codes are oppressive.
You idiots have never experienced oppression, and pray you never do, because this is what it looks like.

As a South Asian American feminist, let me remind everyone that oppression is not a competition.
Just because we fight one type of sexism doesn’t mean we don’t care about other instances of sexism that don’t affect us directly in our day to day lives.
My heart goes out to this woman and the hundreds of other victims like her. I want to educate people about these kinds of incidents. I support organizations that help women like this.
You may think that dress code issues are trivial, but they are related to a larger issue of women’s bodily autonomy, which affects women’s health and safety.
So please, let’s try to bring awareness and bring about change instead of insulting entire groups of people because they are facing issues that are less scary than the one presented.
